Snowshoeing Day

Snowshoe hiking in Abisko

Capture the true feeling of a winter landscape in the arctic. Your guide will take you to learn the wintry way of movement with snowshoes. While walking on the snow, you will experience the Abisko walley and the sparkling snow crystals throughout the snowfields.

In Abisko there is a lot of animals that dwell in the birch forest during winter, so the possibility to see a lot of tracks is quite big. Most likely you will see tracks of forest hare, ptarmigan, foxes, lemmings, and if you are lucky you might even spot tracks form a moose.

During the tour we will have a break and enjoy some warm berry juice while the only sound you hear is the sough of the forest and fells. If there is a clear sky you will also get a spectacular view over the lake Torneträsk and the Abisko mountain range which includes one of Sweden’s most famous mountain formations Lapporten which is a U-valley sculptured by the ice age.

Dress warm, with mittens / gloves, warm hat and warm pants & jacket or an overall. It’s recommended to bring a backpack so you can bring an extra sweater or take some clothes of if you get to warm when hiking.

The tours start at 9.30. The duration is approximately 3 hours. The tour includes snowshoes, hot beverages and transfers from/to your accommodation in Abisko or Björkliden. If you wish to join this tour on another time/date than those scheduled, please send an email with your request to aril.p@abiskoadventure.se

We will only stop at booked pickups according to the timetable.
